For the last five years, Lauren has worked in education as a 7th Grade ELA teacher in a South Carolina public school. Throughout her tenure, she served as department chair and as a member of multiple school- and district-level leadership teams. Lauren’s recent experience as a classroom teacher gives her a unique perspective on what it takes to create a culture of inclusion, equitability, and excellence within the classroom, school, and district. She understands that positive outcomes for students are built on the foundation created by all stakeholders.
Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Lee University, and holds a professional teaching license in South Carolina with an endorsement for teaching gifted and talented students as well as the Read to Succeed endorsement.
Prior to entering the education world, Lauren worked for a nonprofit mental health facility in Tennessee as the organization’s grant coordinator, where she helped secure grants to double
the number of therapists available to serve underserved populations in the greater Chattanooga area.
Lauren lives in Upstate South Carolina with her dog, Moose. She enjoys writing, adventures of the culinary variety, and escaping to the beach or mountains as often as possible.
